Epoxy Floor Coating Applications

Epoxy floor coating adapts to virtually any environment. Here's how we put it to work across residential, commercial, and industrial spaces.

🏠

Residential Interiors

Basements, laundry rooms, home gyms, and mudrooms all benefit from the seamless, moisture-resistant surface that epoxy provides. Easy to clean and transforms forgotten spaces.

🚗

Garage Floors

The most popular residential application. Turns a worn, oil-stained garage into a durable surface that resists chemicals, abrasion, and daily wear from vehicles and tools.

🏪

Retail & Showrooms

A professionally applied epoxy floor gives retail spaces and showrooms a polished, high-gloss surface that enhances product displays and brand perception.

🏭

Warehouses & Industrial

Stands up to forklift traffic, heavy machinery, and constant foot traffic. Industrial-grade systems provide impact resistance, chemical protection, and safety markings.

🏥

Medical & Clean Rooms

The non-porous, seamless nature makes it ideal for healthcare facilities, laboratories, and clean rooms where hygiene and chemical resistance are critical.

🍽️

Commercial Kitchens

Restaurants and food processing plants need floors that handle grease, spills, temperature changes, and constant cleaning. Epoxy delivers a USDA-approved surface.

What Makes Epoxy Floor Coating the Smart Choice?

Epoxy floor coating is a thermosetting resin system that chemically bonds to prepared concrete, creating a rigid, high-performance surface dramatically stronger than the bare concrete beneath it. Once cured, the coating forms a monolithic layer that seals out moisture, resists chemicals, and withstands years of heavy use.

At Top Dog, we exclusively use 100% solids and high-solids epoxy systems—not the water-based or solvent-based products found in retail stores. Our coatings are 5 to 10 times thicker, bond more aggressively to the substrate, and maintain their appearance for well over a decade.

  • 100% solids commercial-grade epoxy resins
  • Compressive strength exceeding 10,000 PSI
  • Impervious to water, oil, and chemical penetration
  • Available in flake, solid color, quartz, and metallic finishes
  • Backed by a written warranty on materials and labor

Our Epoxy Floor Coating Process

Professional results come from a professional process. Here's exactly what happens when Top Dog coats your floor.

Assessment & Quote

We inspect your concrete for moisture levels, existing coatings, cracks, and overall condition. You receive a detailed proposal with the recommended system, timeline, and investment.

Diamond Grinding

Industrial planetary grinders remove the top layer of concrete to expose a clean, porous surface with the ideal CSP profile—the foundation of a long-lasting coating.

Multi-Layer Application

Penetrating primer, body coat mixed with your chosen finish—flake, quartz, metallic, or solid color—then a clear coat seals and protects the entire system.

Cure & Handoff

The coating cures under controlled conditions. We return for a final quality check, walk you through care guidelines, and hand over your warranty documentation.

Epoxy Floor Coating FAQs

Answers to the most common questions about epoxy floor coating from our DFW clients.

What exactly is epoxy floor coating?
Epoxy floor coating is a two-part system consisting of a resin and a hardener that trigger a chemical reaction called cross-linking. This produces a rigid, plastic-like material that bonds permanently to prepared concrete. Professional systems range from 10 to 30+ mils thick, compared to 2-3 mils for typical retail paint products.
How many coats of epoxy does a floor need?
A professional system typically involves three to four layers: a penetrating primer, one or two body coats of pigmented or decorative epoxy, and a protective clear topcoat. Each layer serves a specific purpose—bonding, building thickness, adding aesthetics, and providing surface protection.
How long will an epoxy floor coating last?
When professionally installed, an epoxy floor coating can last 15 to 25 years in residential settings and 10 to 15 years in high-traffic commercial environments. The biggest factor in longevity is diamond grinding to the correct Concrete Surface Profile.
Are there temperature requirements for applying epoxy?
Yes. Most systems require concrete surface temperatures between 50F and 90F during application and curing. Below 50F slows the chemical reaction; above 90F causes the epoxy to cure too quickly, leading to bubbles and uneven finishes. We monitor concrete surface temperature before every application.
Can epoxy be applied over an existing coating?
It depends on condition. If the current coating is well-bonded and in good shape, we can abrade it and apply a new system on top. If there's peeling, bubbling, or moisture issues, the old coating must be removed first. We always perform adhesion and moisture tests before recommending a course of action.
