Role Overview:
Ironclad Defense Works is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media and Digital Production Specialist to join NATO’s Communications Branch. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing NATO’s digital communication strategies, with a focus on creating high-quality digital content to promote NATO’s strategic vision, key objectives, and public engagement initiatives.
This role involves managing multiple social media platforms and developing multimedia content that supports both internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a high-stakes, multinational environment, with a strong understanding of digital media trends, social media engagement, and public relations within a defense or international organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Content Creation & Management: Produce, curate, and manage compelling digital content, including images, graphics, videos, and animations, to enhance NATO’s presence across its social media channels.
- Social Media Campaign Execution: Develop, plan, and execute creative and targeted social media campaigns in alignment with NATO’s communication objectives, utilizing data and analytics to optimize performance and engagement.
- Brand Consistency & Messaging: Ensure all digital content adheres to NATO’s established communication guidelines, maintaining brand consistency across all platforms while effectively conveying NATO’s mission and values to both internal and external audiences.
- Multimedia Production: Lead the production of multimedia content including video clips, infographics, and audio-visual materials to support public relations, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with NATO’s Public Affairs, Communications, and Digital Media teams to align content with key NATO messaging and strategic priorities.
- Content Performance Analysis: Track and analyze content performance metrics to assess effectiveness, engagement, and reach. Provide data-driven recommendations to improve future campaigns and content delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Support: Act as a liaison with NATO’s internal departments and external partners, supporting broader public relations campaigns and ensuring alignment with overall strategic objectives.
- Crisis Communications: Support real-time communication efforts, including crisis communications, by quickly producing and disseminating appropriate digital content that addresses immediate needs and public concerns.
- Emerging Platforms: Monitor trends and identify opportunities for expanding NATO’s digital footprint onto emerging platforms and new media channels such as Instagram, podcasts, and webinars.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, marketing, public relations, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital communications, preferably within a multinational, governmental, or defense-related organization. Experience working within NATO or another international defense alliance is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using digital media production tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) or other industry-standard multimedia software. Experience with social media analytics tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or Google Analytics.
- Multimedia Production Skills: Proven experience in multimedia production including video editing, graphic design, and visual storytelling. Familiarity with best practices for optimizing content for different social platforms.
- Social Media Expertise: Deep understanding of the role social media plays in strategic communication and public engagement, including experience managing accounts with large international audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute long-term digital strategies that are aligned with organizational goals, while also remaining flexible to adapt to real-time changes and crisis situations.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Clearance Requirement: Active Secret security clearance.
- Cultural Awareness: Understanding of NATO’s mission, culture, and the defense landscape, with the ability to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences in a clear and engaging manner.
Desirable Skills:
- Public Affairs Experience: Experience in public affairs or working in a public relations capacity within the defense or government sector.
- Data-Driven Mindset: A strong grasp of using data and analytics to inform content creation decisions, optimize campaigns, and demonstrate the impact of communication strategies.
- Innovative Approach: Forward-thinking mindset with a passion for exploring new digital trends and communication technologies that can enhance NATO’s online presence.
- Multilingual Skills: Proficiency in more than one NATO member nation language is an asset.
