Dog Trainer

REPORTS TO: General Manager
***Core Responsibilities:***
Supports Mission, Vision and Values of Destination Pet.
Create a training plan for the dog
Teach commands to the dog and pet parent.
Be patient with a stubborn dog
Teach pet parents about dog behavior
Understand a pet parents needs
Work with the pet parent to teach them about their dog
Teach pet parents how to reinforce good behavior
Listen to pet parent concerns
Performs add-on services as needed.
Follows procedures for the safe handling of all pets.
Completes all required training and attends training sessions as needed/assigned.
Treats customers, guests and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered while performing work duties.
Assists other associates as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
***Expertise & Experience:***
Must be a pet fanatic pets are part of our family!
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Knowledge of dog commands
Knowledge of different dog breeds
Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
Ability to create a plan of action for pet parents.
Ability to work well with dogs
Dog competitions is preferred
Ability to identify problems
Professional dog training experience preferred.
Displays a professional manner at all times
***Physical:***
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to be on feet eight hours per day.
Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
