JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Database Administrator is responsible for oversight, development, training and support of the AIM database. This role will have a birds eye view as well as be in the weeds of the database, ensuring the system is usable, nimble, and equipped for campaign and event needs. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I.E. THOSE WHICH ARE BASIC, NECESSARY, AND AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE JOB

Administration

  • Operates as the database expert.
  • Enroll users and maintain system security by controlling database access.
  • Modify the database structure using knowledge of the database management system. 
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the database. 
  • Leverage tools in place to ensure efficiency and cleanliness of data, identifying integrative new tools.
  • Research and implement the utilization of tools included in the system that are not currently in use, providing training to staff. 
  • Construct reports and analyze data using queries and tools outside of Virtuous.
  • Get the database to a place where AIM is able to be more nimble and creative with how it's being utilized.
  • Managing the fundraising tracking mechanism, i.e. Officer projections, monthly/annually reconciliation and communication. 

Communication and Support

  • Provide training to team around best practices, and best ways to engage with the data. 
  • Provide onboarding training for new hires or anyone stepping into a role that interacts with the database. 
  • Manage, direct and support the Advancement Support Lead.
  • Utilize the database and tools to support an evolving fundraising strategy.
  • High level of database oversight to support strategic planning. 
  • Revamp current request system that will allow for prioritization and clear needs identification within the Advancement team. 

Strategy and Structure

  • Building out and implementing the strategy of the database.
  • Assessing current gaps in the Virtuous database, keeping tabs on trends and overseeing and implementing change management.
  • Build out and execute all training needed around implemented changes. 
  • Build out the infrastructure for segment strategy. 
  • Manage, maintain, and drive data strategy.
  • Create data architecture in Virtuous for all campaigns and opportunities.
    • Utilize outside fundraising/data mapping systems that integrate into Virtuous i.e. Give Lively, Fundraise Up, Zapier etc. 
  • Create ROI hypotheses in coordination with the Advancement Leadership Team (ALT). 
  • Provide strategy and execution for campaigns and stewardship projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSKEY RELATIONSHIPS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field), and/or equivalent in field experience.

3+ years experience as a Database Administrator, experience in Virtuous preferred. 

Experience working in a Non-Profit preferred.
